Domäne Wachau Smaragd "Singerriedel" Riesling 2007 |
|
The term "Smaragd" is the Wachau's highest quality designation. Singerriedel is a sheltered single vineyard east of the town of Spitz. Its rocky terraces radiate heat into the evening imparting a ripe concentration to the wines with distinct peach and apricot flavors. The lush fruit makes it accessible early on, but there is plenty of spice, mineral, and supporting acidity underneath. With a couple years of aging this wine falls into an unearthly balance, maintaining its massive character, but developing supreme elegance. |
